Classified Want Ads

Today there are several ways to place a classified. Some are free; some are not. Traditionally there is the local newspaper, community bulletins or anything that is printed on paper. However, the internet has become another avenue for classified advertisements. Craig’s list is most popular free classified web site. However, it only does well in large populated areas. When it comes to small communities, some have their own version of Craig’s List. Here is the San Luis Valley we have the SLV JUNCTION. Again, depending what you are selling one will do better over the others.

Pros:

  • A traditional method of advertising.
  • General belief that everyone reads the newspaper.
  • If you are advertising for a garage or yard sale the first place buyers usually look.
  • You can confirm the ad was actually placed.

Cons:

  • Limited to someone actually seeing and reading the ad.
  • If service is not free, expect to pay.
  • Everyone can have your personal information, such as phone number and address.
  • You keep getting phone calls after the fact, because you forgot to cancel the ad after the sale.
